Dispatch From Port-au-Prince #3

June 21, 2010 June 20, 2010 - In the morning attended a genuine Haitian church service at the Luthurian Church of the Good Shepard. Wonderful singing and music. Haitians are very religious and many turn to God for help in the midst of this catastrophe.
I then met with my driver and translator and we drove into the mountains searching for Petionville, a refugee camp run by none other than Sean Penn, the American actor. Penn has been down here since the earthquake, working full time to help Haitian refugees. My objective was to locate Penn and interview him.
After much searching we found the camp. Unfortunatley, the guard at the gate told us that Penn was not in the camp and would be back tommarow. However, we soon located one of the people with his organization and he got on his radio to speak with one of the main supervisors. We did not have an appointment and were not affiliated with a major publication like the NYTimes, so we were promptly turned down (also Penn is famouse for his contempt of the press). I decided to hang around the camp anyways and interview people. I discovered some interesting things which I will include in upcoming articles.
Later, it rained again and we descended back into the city. Did some more interviewing before calling it a day.
Photos coming soon
